September Fest with Alesmith Brewing Co. and XTERRA SURF

by Steve Ramsthaler October 19, 2017

September 30th, 2017 marked the inaugural September Fest hosted by XETRRA SURF and Alesmith Brewing Co. The event consisted of live music, craft beer, food and over a dozen San Diego local surf brands set up with their newest merchandise on sale.

The event kicked off with a performance by DJ Binx. He wowed the crowd with custom scratching and house favorites. Once the crowd was warmed up, Modern History Band took the stage as the sun went down. With their mix of beach rock and psychedelic fusion, the stage was set for the films that were to follow.

The main event of the night was XTERRA SURF's video premiere of Slipping Into Darkness featuring Mikey O’Shaughnessy, Kilian Garland, Sunny Garcia, Ricky Whitlock and more. Surfers submitted their best clips from the year to staff editors Sean Santiago and Pat Westman of Santi Creative Group to cut the final reel. Needless to say, the packed venue was fired up to see the XTERRA SURF team’s performance airing on the big screen. If you were not able to make the event, we have it here for your viewing pleasure. Feast your eyes on the long anticipated full length feature of: Slipping Into Darkness.

Surfing in a Blizzard
Surfing in a Blizzard

by Steve Ramsthaler January 23, 2018

We headed north up the frigid coast until we found a peeling left coming off a pier. Sean suited up and I went out to the snow-covered pier to shoot. Although it was challenging conditions to shoot in trying to keep the subject in focus during the blizzard, and not knowing if my toes were going to fall off, it was truly a moment us surfers and surf photographers live for.
